When you create forum account that covers your niche, you should agree to their terms and condition. Moreover, you have to be careful the unique guideline regarding with posting link, promoting business because different forums has different guidelines and you might be banned for some  mistake and cannot join any more. Before you join, you should look for how many members in that forum and how many post have been updating because that shows the signal of opportunity to build relationship and do business. If you have huge amount of time to invest in online marketing, it is great that you can join many forums to contribute and commercial message in signature if it is allowed.
